Comics Spotlight: Marvel Now! Thunderbolts

Geeks, Nerds, and my mother rejoice! For today, that wacky guy behind the great Menial Series videos feels like writing about something that has been on my mind, and you had best believe he is going to write! Now that I am up-to-date with the newest Venom comic, I decided to go back and read through the Deadpool canon. No spoilers, please, but as of right now he is about to fight Tiamat to ensure that he becomes the Mithras. With things really heating up back in 1998, and my thirst to see Flash Thompson live his life with the Venom symbiote, I decided to peek my nose into the reboot of the Thunderbolts comics, and decided to bring you all with me! Some major spoilers ahead! If you are feeling particularly masochistic and feel to dive into the story, I’d suggest doing so before reading on.

Hero Spotlight: Invincible

Invincible Slider

How is it going my fellow geeks? In lieu of recent comments made by certain dickheads in last week’s podcast, I have decided to spend this week talking about a hero I like instead of a villain. I do like heroes too sometimes, but generally they are so generic and one dimensional that they are not as interesting as their counterparts to me. Also, the nice guy act gets tiring pretty quickly. So, today I am going to talk about a hero who is neither Marvel nor DC. He helps people, but is also so unfamiliar with his own strength that he harms them sometimes too. His name is Mark Grayson, and he fights crime under the guise of Invincible.

Villain Spotlight: Sinestro

Hello there friends and aliens alike! Tis I, the great and lustrous Durga Syn, here to talk about another of my favorite villains. While no villain compares to Thanos, there are a few who are also up there among my favorites. One of those villains is Sinestro. Not a lot of people are familiar with Sinestro, or at least, not a lot of people really knew who he was until the most recent Green Lantern movie. Well, as it stands, he is probably my favorite DC villain. DC, in my opinion anyway, loses out to Marvel in the villain department. The main reason I was always a fan of Marvel over DC back in the day was the good villains. Still, Sinestro stands out among the DC villains. He is my particular brand of psychopath. So now, I’ll go ahead and give you a rundown of Mr. Sinestro’s past!

Villain Spotlight: Thanos, the Mad Titan

Thanos

“Fools taking up arms against omnipotence. They rush head-on into armageddon. So I shall provide them with a most glorious doomsday! The heavens will run red with blood. But in the end, as always, Thanos will stand triumphant.”

Hello dames and gents. Tis I, the great and magnificent Durga, bringing you another installment in my rants about comic books. Today, instead of covering a whole comic series, I will be giving my post over completely to Thanos, the Mad Titan. Why just one character you ask? Well, with the recent buzz around The Avengers; in theaters, I felt like I needed to show a little love to not only my favorite villain of all time, but arguably my favorite comic book character of all time . He will always stand out among the rest of the villains because he has a greater purpose than any villain before or after him.

Comics Spotlight: The Boys

Comics Spotlight: The Boys

Hello all of you out there in Geekland, Tis I, the great Durga. I am here to enlighten you in the ways of comics. Many of you may not be familiar with comics, but I do spend a fair amount of time reading them. Because of this, it is only right that my first post be in the world of comics. Where better to start when speaking of comics than with my most recent favorite series, The Boys. Many Series come and go these days with super powered heroes who are more often faced with lame moral decisions than actual villains. All of this humanization lately has been really boring. That is why I enjoy  The Boys so much. It is everything most mainstream comics are not.

Introduction to Insanity Via Durga Syn!

Rikki Slider

Hello new friends and old minions alike! Tis I, the one and only Rikki “Durga Syn” Herrera. Hailing from parts unknown with origins that are something of a mystery, I spend my days reading comics, working or playing random games (lately a lot of multiplayer games with Reetin in his stream). One could say I have always been a nerdy child. I had the highest reading level in my class throughout school and spent most of my time there with my nose in a book or comic. (more…)
