Impression – Arashi no Yoru ni: Himitsu no Tomodachi Ep 1

Arashi no Yoru ni(Movie)

Arashi no Yoru ni, or as it’s called in English; One Stormy Night, is a series of children’s books about a goat named “Mei” and a wolf named “Gabu”, that become the unlikeliest of friends during a lightning storm. The series of books spawned an anime film in 2005 and was one of the prettiest animated films I had ever seen, and the story was pretty damn good too. So you can imagine my surprise when I found out that this movie that I loved was getting a TV adaptation. I knew the art wouldn’t be able to live up to the movie’s style, but I was looking forward to seeing how they would go about animating the TV series.

To my surprise it took a couple of weeks for the series to actually get subbed, and all the while I was wondering why. Certainly I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed the movie. Eventually though, it did get subbed and I immediately set to watching it; the moment it started I realized why it had taken so long to get subbed.
